Nike giving staff a week off to support mental health

Staff at Nike’s corporate headquarters located in Oregon have got a week off to support their mental health. This US firm will power down to offer their employees a rest after a very tough year.

The head of the firm Matt Marazzo said, “Take the time to unwind, destress and spend time with your loved ones,”

It is now following similar kinds of moves like LinkedIn and Bumble. A growing number of workers started feeling burnt out due to the pressure of this academic. Other big US firms like Uber, Apple, and bank Wells Fargo have already delayed their plans to make staff return to the office. The restrictions regarding COVID again started to surge across the US.

Mr. Marrazzo of Nike came up with an announcement on LinkedIn, saying, ” Do not work”. He further added that the past year was rough for all; everyone we are living through a much traumatic event.

“In a year (or two) unlike any other, taking time for rest and recovery is key to performing well and staying sane,” he said. “It’s not just a ‘week off’ for the team… it’s an acknowledgment that we can prioritize mental health and still get work done.”

According to the reports, it is also reflecting the fact that Nike worked with a successful year. Its shares have gone up by 20%, with its stock gaining. Bumble is a dating app where women are in charge of making their first move. This company has told its 700 staff to switch off work and focus on themselves to deal with the pandemic. One senior executive also revealed on Twitter that founder Whitney Wilde Herd had made the move of “having correctly intuited our collective burnout”.

LinkedIn gave its workers a week off during April. CitiGroup said that it would have “Zoom-free Fridays’ ‘ to deal with the fatigue of this pandemic.
