Missiles hit Kyiv as a fight for capital looms

Russian attack on Ukrainian capital Kyiv encounters a fierce resistance. The military of Ukraine stated that it fought many attacks. The military mentioned in a Facebook post that an army unit managed to repel the Russian army near its base.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the attackers wanted to block the state center. And we broke their plan. Viktor Lyashko, the country’s Health Minister, stated that a total of 198 Ukrainians died since the Russian invasion.

The report by the Interfax-Ukraine news agency mentions that Kyiv officials put a statement asking people to stay in shelters. They also asked them to stay away from windows if they were at home.

Oleksiy Danilov is the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council. He told Ukrainian news that the situation was under the control of the military. Mr. Danilov also mentioned that we are trying our best to stop the horde.

In a small video, President Zelensky dispelled the rumors about the Ukrainian army surrendering around Kyiv’s government district. He stated that “I’m here. We won’t lay down our arms. We will defend our state.”

In another address, he stated that “We are defending the country, the land of our future children. Kyiv and key cities around the capital are controlled by our army.”

He further added that the attackers wanted to block the center and take control of Donetsk. But we broke their plan.

The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, mentioned that a missile hit a block of flats in the city. He also posted a picture on Facebook showing at least four apartments destroyed. He claimed that there were no Russian troops in the city, and more air attacks may occur.

Since Russian troops are closer to Kyiv. Ukraine urges the West to take faster sanctions to punish Moscow. Boris Johnson, UK Prime Minister, also urged the West to block Russia from the payments system. It is time to get harsh on President Putin and his regime.
