At Least 28 Chinese Military aircraft have flown into the air defense of Taiwan. The report has been confirmed by the defense ministry of Taiwan, which is the largest incursion till now. The fighters and the nuclear-capable bombers are there among those China jets which have entered the ADIZ.
This incident is coming after the warning of the NATO leaders on Monday. It has warned of the military challenge which China is posing. Democratic Taiwan sees itself as the sovereign state. Beijing looks at this island as a breakaway province.
According to Taipei, the Chinese mission, which includes 14 J-16, six J-11 fighters, is an early warning aircraft. Also, these China jets include four nuclear-capable H-6 bombers and an anti-submarine with electronic warfare.
An air defense identification zone is the area that is outside of the territory and the national airspace of the country. However, here the foreign aircraft still get the identification. The monitoring and the controlling also takes place in the interest of national security. It comes as a self-declared area, and it technically remains in the international airspace.
Chinese aircraft flew close enough to the Taiwan-controlled Pratas Islands. Also, the China jets have been seen near the southern part of Taiwan itself.
China continues its regular carrying out of the flights over the waters between the southern part of Taiwan and the Pratas Islands. In January, it also saw a similar mission with 15 aircraft which entered the air defense zone of Taiwan. On 12th April, Taiwan reported 25 jets.
Tuesday’s operation came just one day after the summit of the NATO leaders in Brussels. The NATO leaders have warned of the military threat that China poses to them. They have called this a behavior of ” systemic challenge.”
They have said that China was rapidly expanding its nuclear arsenal. Also, China is opaque about its military modernization. China was co-operating as the military with Russia.
Over the weekend, the G7 leaders have urged China to “respect human rights and fundamental freedoms.”
It has highlighted the abuses against the Uyghur Muslim minority group and its crackdown on Hong-Kong pro-democracy activists. Both the statements have criticized China quite strongly.
