Joe Biden arrives in Europe amid UN climate summit

President Joe Biden has recently arrived in Europe to join the UN climate summit. He is about to discuss his signature climate policy which is yet to get approval from the US Congress.

The $1.75 trillion deal of the president with the Build Back Better social welfare package contains green policies. Before leaving Washington, Biden had described this measure as a historical one.

However, there are differences among the Democrats, which means that it is unlikely to pass before the summit.

“It’s a framework that will create millions of jobs, grow the economy, invest in our nation and our people, and turn the climate crisis into an opportunity,” Mr. Biden said.

President is heading for the COP26 global UN climate summit in Scotland on Sunday. His first stop was Vatican City, where he would meet the pope. He will also attend the G20 summit for the major economies in Rome.

His Build Back Better legislation covers a wide range of extra funding for child care, health, clean energy, and education reforms. His green spendings will seek to slash US greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

It will provide new tax breaks for electrically driven vehicles and the rolling out of solar panels on American homes.

The president is now hoping to pass a package during the time of COP26, which begins on Monday.

The package has been linked in Congress to further separate a $1.2tn infrastructure bill. Left-wing Senator Bernie Sanders has said that this plan was probably the most consequential bill since the time of the 1960s.

The left of the party is quite unhappy as the plan does not include paid family leaves, healthcare expansion, free community college, and a tax on billionaires, etc.

The original pricing tag for the proposal was $3.5tn. But it was further cut in half during the insistence of the two Democratic senators who could boost this bill.

On Thursday, Sm Cinema and Mr. Manchin had an issue with a lukewarm statement that is still declining to back the bill of the president. The house will not vote on this infrastructure bill. Mr. Biden will be back in Washington on Wednesday.
