A deadline is approaching in front of Israel opposition for forming a new government

Israel Opposition leaders are saying that they are close to agreeing to form a coalition. It would end Benjamin Netanyahu’s stretch of 12 as the PM. The head of the centrist Yesh Atid party, Yair Lapid, is hoping to be able to make an announcement sooner. He must do this before midnight, or the mandate of him will expire.

Under this proposed deal, the right-wing politician Naftali Bennett will be the prime minister for two more years. He will take the position before handing it over to Mr. Lapid. Benjamin Netanyahu and his right-wing Likud party are searching for the defectors. This new government of Israel Opposition will still face a vote of confidence in the parliament before it can take place.

Suppose it fails to win the support of a majority with the 120 seats of Knesset. There is also a risk of the country going to the election for the fifth time in two years.

Party leaders from the political spectrum are working throughout the night to finalize the deal for the “government of change.” Israeli media’s report is also suggesting that they are deciding on how to divide most ministries. It was focusing on its key committee positions. They were unable to make any kind of announcement before the members of the Knesset met to elect the next president.

The winner in the election, Isaac Herzog, is a former Labour Party leader. He is currently heading towards the Jewish Agency. It is the main organization that is enabling Jewish immigration to Israel. He has defeated the Israel Prize-winning educator Miriam Peretz.

To build a coalition with the parliamentary majority, Mr. Lapid must sign an individual agreement with seven parties. Yesh Atid and Benny Gantz are also saying that they have agreed overnight: “on the outlines of the government and core issues relating to the strengthening of democracy and Israeli society”.

Mr. Gantz, whose government with Benjamin Netanyahu collapsed in December, would remain as the defense minister in this new cabinet. Yes, Atid has also reached out to the deal with the Meretz and Labour parties and with the Yisrael Beitenu’s party of Avigdor Lieberman.

Benjamin Netanyahu urged right-wing politicians not to join the left-wing government. It will be a danger to the security and future of Israel.
