HQ of Russian mercenary group Wagner attacked by Ukraine

Many reports have identified an attack on the headquarters of the Paramilitary group Wagner by the Ukrainian Artillery Forces. Wagner is a Russian mercenary organization. The Governor of the Luhansk region in Ukraine, Serhiy Hayday, confirmed this.

Many pro-Kremlin War reporters also clarified this. The attack occurred in Popasna, a city in Eastern Ukraine. However, the data on deaths is yet to be confirmed by the authorities.

Governor Hayday said on Telegram that Ukrainian forces attacked an enemy HQ with the help of a Russian journalist. The journalist also reportedly gave away the location of the HQ.

A daily newspaper of Ukraine, Ukrainska Pravda, wrote that a pro-Kremlin Russian journalist, Sergei Sreda went to visit the Wagner HQ. The photos of his visit, which were also available on Telegram, revealed the position of the HQ.

Kotenok, a pro-Kremlin War reporter, clarified the same. He mentioned that Ukraine used Himars. However, he didn’t confirm the death of Prigozhin through Ukraine, believing he was killed.

Here, Kotenok has referred to Himars. US HIMARS or High Mobility Artillery Rocket System can fire rockets that can hit and destroy Russian targets far away from the front lines. Ukraine now has several of the US Himars. Ukrainian Member of Parliament Oleksiy Honcharenko confirmed this on Facebook.

Kotenok also refers to Prigozhin. Western Intelligence links this mercenary organization, Wagner, to Yevgeny Prigozhin, a.k.a Putin’s Chef. However, the Kremlin denies Wagner’s existence.

Wagner is a PMC or a Private Military Company. But they still state-sponsored mercenaries who act in the Kremlin’s interest. The group reportedly sent to Crimea and Donbas region in 2014. They have been to Syria, Libya, Mali, and the Central African Republic. They have an accusation of the recent Olenivka prison fire on July 29th, which killed many. The group also has an accusation of war crimes and human rights abuses.
