In news making headlines early Monday, the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs has seemingly removed the flag of Taiwan from its homepage.
Responding to the removal, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taipei has put the removal down to Berlin’s ‘One China Policy’ and has called the decision “unacceptable” with the page introducing Taiwan now “inconsistent” when compared to other nations and regions around the world.
Taiwan’s representative to Germany has, it is understood, been instructed to communicate with the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs to state Taipei’s position in the hope that Germany can properly address the issue in a consistent manner vis-a-vis its treatment of other nations and to avoid discriminatory misunderstandings.
