We have seen that there is a lot of talk regarding the upcoming Taiwan elections which are set to take place in the first half of 2020. Now, there has been a lot of new developments and news regarding the Taiwan elections. Recently, we saw that Taipei Mayor Ko formed a new party but we still don’t know if he is fighting for the Taiwan Presidential Elections or not. However, he also said that it will be either him or Terry Gou who will run for Presidential Elections. Therefore, we now know that Ko might not run for Taiwan Presidential Elections as Terry Gou has said that he is “extremely willing” to run for Presidency
In an interview given by Terry Gou, the Foxconn Chief, he said that he is willing to run for the Presidential Elections next year. He also said that he has a good footing will all the major powers which makes him a good candidate. Now, Terry Gou is currently still a KMT member and he is also hoping that KMT will drop its current candidate, Han Kuo-yu, due to his current gaffes. Han is also reportedly trailing behind in every opinion poll behind President Tsai.
However, in his interview, Terry Gou also said that he is the one who “knew about” Japan the most. He also mentions that he is seen as a trustworthy person in China which will help in ties between China and Taiwan. According to Sankei Shimbun, this is the first time in an interview that Terry Gou has made his intentions clear about running for Presidency since losing KMT primaries.
Gou added that he is “continuing to prepare to move in the direction of participating in the election.” Gou also denied reports that he has allowed Taipei Mayor Ko’s party to nominate him for the Taiwan Presidential Elections.
