Foxconn founder Terry Gou says China won’t attack if he is President

You must have read our report where we informed you about the fact that Taiwanese Presidential Elections are coming up next year and for that, Foxconn founder Terry Gou has just announced that he will be running for it next year. It is also worth noting that Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen will not be able to fight for Presidential Elections next year as constitutional obligations are such that any Taiwanese President can only run for two terms in their lifetime, as is the case with most other countries around the world. Due to that reason, the ruling party of Taiwan have decide to promote the current Vice-President of Taiwan as its candidate for the Presidential bid next year.

Now, you must be aware that Foxconn founder Terry Gou is known to be a Pro-China leader who does not want to merge with China but does not object to CCP interfering in the Taiwanese matters and also believes that China and Taiwan should work closely together. In a new statement, Foxconn’s Terry Gou said that he believes China will not attack Taiwan if he becomes the country’s president next year.

Speaking at Taiwan’s Tunghai University, Gou said that “According to my understanding they don’t want war. But if you engage in independence, if there is independence then there must be war. They think Taiwan is theirs,”. He added that “For them, striking Taiwan is not a priority. But Taiwanese politicians hope because of this the people can hate China and therefore they get elected,” and mentioned that “I won’t (declare) independence, you won’t attack me or fly around Taiwan,” referring to the daily flights by China’s air force around Taiwan.

It is worth noting that Terry Gou is hinting towards stronger ties between China and Taiwan which means that he will have to withdraw its co-operation with the US as China does have a major problem with that. On the other hand, Taiwan’s President Tsai has repeatedly called for talks with China but the CCP have always declined her request as they believe that Tsai is a separatist along with next year’s Taiwan Presidential Candidate from DPP, William Lai.
