Donald Trump Delays 2020 G7 Summit

American president Donald Trump has postponed the 2020 G7 Summit saying “I don’t feel that… it properly represents what’s going on in the world. It’s a very outdated group of countries.”

Traditionally consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan , the UK and U.S., Trump went on record aboard his presidential plane Air Force One late Saturday claiming that Australia, India, Russia, and South Korea, should also be invited.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel had initially declined the original June invitation with her government spokesperson saying Merkel “cannot agree to her personal participation, to a journey to Washington” in the current COVID-19 climate.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson speaking from London, however, “agreed on the importance of convening the G7 in person in the near future” according to an official statement from Downing Street.

The revamped meeting of world leaders will now take place in September.
