China’s Xi Jinping and US Biden interact after 7 months

Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with counterpart US Biden for the first time. This is only the second call between them after Biden took office. The relationship between the US and China faces heightened tension. There are clashes over the issue like trading, pandemic, espionage, etc.

“The two leaders had a broad, strategic discussion in which they discussed areas where our interests converge, and areas where our interests, values, and perspectives diverge,” the White House statement added.

“This discussion, as President Biden made clear, was part of the United States’ ongoing effort to responsibly manage the competition between the United States and the PRC.”

As per reports, the phone calls were candid and in-depth. It has covered some of the extensive strategic communication along with some issues of mutual concern. Whether these two nations will properly handle their relationship will decide the critical future and destiny of the world. Mr. Don al trump had integrated with Mr. Xi several times since he first took office.

Within 6 months of his administration, Trump spoke to Mr.Xi twice over the phone. He also invited the Chinese president to Mar-a -Lago, the private club of Mr. Trump. There he held talks in person.

A senior White House official said that he called the request of US Biden. He also became exasperated with the unwillingness of lower-level Chinese officials to hold talks with his administration.

Earlier this year, the talks between the US and China faced some tensions as officials from both sides exchanged shark rebukes.

Chinese officials, on the other hand, accused the US of inciting countries to attack China. The US, on the other hand, said that China has arrived with the intention of grandstanding. There are some major issues with human rights and democracy among these two nations.

The US accuses China of genocide against the Uighur population in Xinjiang. China also told the US to stop interfering in its internal affairs. There are also some issues with trade. Both the nations have locked a trade battle that started in 2018.

The US has imposed tariffs on Chinese goods. China has also retaliated with tariffs on US products. During the tension over Afghanistan, China has accused the US of its withdrawal of US troops. The Chinese Foreign Minister slammed the US for the withdrawal of troops. He accused the US of inflicting serious damage on the people of Afghanistan.
