Canada accuses Indian Government’s involvement in killing of Pro Khalistani leader

We have seen that a lot of things have been happening between India and Canada behind the scenes over the last few days because of the fact that Indian Government summoned the Canadian ambassador to India when the Pro Khalistani movement was going on in Canada and also the attacks that were taking place on Indian embassy during the movement. During the G20 Summit as well, it was released in the joint statement that India was not happy with the Canadian Government allowing this attacks to take place which obviously showed Canada’s PM Trudeau in bad light. Also, the incidents involving him having to stay for few more days due to flight being unoperational was also very strange.

Now, it seems like everything was part of the plan as the Canadian Government has accused India of its involvement in the attack and killing of Pro Khalistani leader earlier this month on Canadian soil. Obviously, India refutes those claims but they have also expelled one diplomat from the Canadian embassy as a tit-for-tat move because of Canada’s move to expel one Indian diplomat as well. It is worth noting that similar to Taiwan’s issue, India also has a khalistani movement that took place in Punjab region many decades back and is now being done in Canada as it is seen as the home of Pro Khalistani people outside India.

Justin Trudeau said in the Canadian parliament that he believes Indian Government was involved in this killing and reports have also arrived that he has briefed USA’s President as well as UK’s PM among others over this issue. In the parliament, Trudeau said, “Over the past number of weeks, Canadian security agencies have been actively pursuing credible allegations of a potential link between agents of the government of India and the killing of a Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar,” and added that “Today we’re acting by expelling a key diplomat, but we will get to the bottom of this”. Nijjar has been called by Indian agencies as someone who is “trying to incite Sikhs to vote for secession, agitate against the Government of India and carry out violent activities.”
