Biden Sees No Need For Cuomo To Resign Over Sexual Misconduct

US President Joe Biden, just weeks after calling the Uyghur Genocide a ‘different norm’ in a move to appease Chinese President Xi Jinping, has decided not to call for fellow Democrat Andrew Cuomo to resign on the back of increasing sexual misconduct allegations.

Given the chance to call for the Governor of New Yok to step down when he finally broke his silence at the weekend, Biden offered up a less than convincing “I think the investigation is underway and we should see what it brings us” – a response currently being derided in both Republican and Democratic US media.

President Biden being sworn in

A long time friend of the New York governor, President Biden has been reluctant in recent weeks to address the issue in public but following increasing calls for Cuomo to resign from across the political divide, including from Democrats in the House, he went on record on the South Lawn of the White House yesterday.

He had earlier been ‘called out‘ by Cuomo’s accuser, Lindsey Boylan, a young mother who went public slamming the President and his number two, Kamala Harris for their silence over the issue.

Andrew Cuomo

In a similar response, fellow Democrat and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also failed to call for Cuomo to resign despite famously claiming to have “zero tolerance” for sexual harassment.

This was not a position other Democrats opted for, however, with Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer, both of New York also calling for Cuomo to go.

Outspoken New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and fellow Democrat Jerry Nadler had made the same demand at the end of last week.

To date, almost 90% of the city of New York’s congressional delegation has demanded Cuomo’s resignation, or impeachment; a move backed by over 80% of New York’s state senators.
